More Sugar - The Hudson Valley's Entertainment Source -- February 2008
The classy tradition of dinner jazz is making a temporary return, but don’t think it’s your Daddy’s dinner jazz. It ain’t! The five piece smooth jazz band, the Dangling Success, is performing a Valentine’s Day dinner show Thursday, February 14 at Dockside in Mahopac. They aim to modernize the hip tradition of dinner jazz. Their grooves are mesmerizing, their melodies are intoxicating and their performances are electrifying! Their music has been called “an aphrodisiac for the spirit.”
Mike – Dockside’s King of Cuisine -- has prepared a special three course meal, a glass of champagne along with a musical appetizer all for only $29.95! It’s time to dust off the threads and head out for a great night of music!
Smooth Jazz, Rhythm & Blues & Motown blend together in the music of the Dangling Success. All at once, it’s smooth and sultry, yet energetic and electrifying. Sweet and sweaty sax melodies by Mark “Dr. Sax” Niekrowitz, who has played with Manhattan’s big bands as well as gritty club acts, soar above the textured and smart rhythms of former Isley Brothers guitarist, Gioron Wilkins. Solid and soulful polyrhythms crack from the snare drum of former Don Mclean drummer, Paul Rossman. Keeping the low end melodically satisfied is Mike McDonough on bass while Dan Odescalchi fills the musical crevasses on keyboards. Smooth Jazz saxophone sensation Nelson Rangell has even joined these musicians in the studio.
The Dockside is located at 825 South Lake Boulevard in Mahopac, NY. Call (845) 621-0057 to make reservations.
