The Dutchess County Parks Department will sponsor a free summer concert at the band shell at Bowdoin Park on Saturday starting at 4 p.m.

The event will feature three local bands, followed by a fireworks display.

"This concert at the band shell at Bowdoin is a great way to celebrate a summer evening - enjoying local musical talent with the majestic Hudson River providing a beautiful backdrop," Dutchess County Executive William Steinhaus said.

The three bands are:

1. The Chain Gang, which will start at 4 p.m. and will cover hits from the '60s through to today.

2. Dangling Success, a jazz/rock band reminiscent of Steely Dan, will perform at 6 p.m

3. The Big Band Sound is a 20-piece jazz band performing classic jazz with songs from artists such as Count Basie, Glenn Miller, Duke Ellington andTommy Dorsey. The Big Band Sound will perform at 7:30 p.m.

Refreshments will be available for purchase from New Hamburg Fire Department. Following the performances, Legion Fireworks will put on a fireworks display to close out the evening.
